Itinerary for your 2005 Chinese Breeds Tour

Saturday, March 19, 2005. DEPART NORTH AMERICA
If you are using our trans-pacific air, arrive this evening at Los Angeles International Airport.  At 1:40am (early on the 20th) you will depart Terminal 2 on your Air China non-stop flight to Beijing.  While flying to China you will cross the International dateline and move your watch ahead, temporarily losing this day. You will gain it back on your return.

Monday, March 21. ARRIVE BEIJING
This morning arrive in Beijing around 6:30am.  Beijing is China's capital city with a 3,000 year history and a current population over 12 million. You will be met at the Beijing airport by your English speaking guide, and transfer to your beautiful 5-star hotel, the Chang'an Grand Hotel. We recommend staying awake until dinner-time (to help acclimate to the time difference after your long flights) and will arrange a light sightseeing excursion in the afternoon.  (In Flight Meals)

Tuesday, March 22. SUMMER PALACE / LAMA TEMPLE / GREAT WALL OF CHINA
This morning experience the Imperial Summer Palace, famous for its Long Corridor, decorated with over 1,000 Chinese paintings, the Marble Boat and the Kunming Lake.
Then visit the Lama Temple, a former royal residence, built in 1694, subsequently converted to a Tibetan Buddhist Temple which houses the largest wooden Buddha in the world. This afternoon explore the Great Wall of China, which stretches like a dragon along the ridges and hilltops beyond Beijing, toward Mongolia. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Wednesday, March 23. PET CAPITAL PARK / TIANANMEN SQUARE / WANG FU JIN COMMERCIAL  DISTRICT / PEKING DUCK BANQUET
This morning visit Pet Capital Park. Plans are underway for our group to view an All-Chinese-Breed Dog Show and Exhibition of unique and rare breed Chinese dogs. Some so rare, they are unheard outside China. This event will be held in our honor - a chance to see and learn about these breeds first hand. This afternoon visit Tiananmen Square and Wang Fu Jin commercial and shopping district downtown. This evening enjoy an authentic Peking Duck banquet.

Thursday, March 24. FORBIDDEN CITY / TEMPLE OF HEAVEN / HONG QIAO MARKET / FLY TO GUANGZHOU
This morning tour the vast, exotic Forbidden City. This palace complex was originally built in 1420 to house the emperor’s family and the royal court in the center of ancient Beijing. Then explore the Temple of Heaven, where emperors prayed for good harvest. Finally visit the Hong Qiao Market, one of Beijing's most colorful and lively all-purpose free markets. This evening transfer to the airport and fly to Guangzhou, one of China's largest and most active cities.  At Guangzhou transfer to your 5-star hotel (the White Swan Hotel, or similar). Friday, March 25. GUANGZHOU CITY TOUR / SUN YAT-SEN MEMORIAL / TEMPLE OF SIX BANYAN TREES / CHEN FAMILY TEMPLE / VETERINARIAN UNIVERSITY
Today tour the city of Guangzhou, including visits to the Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial, the Chen Family Temple, and the Temple of Six Banyan Trees and the Veterinarian University,  where our Chinese host Lana will introduce the group to those involved in the medical and teaching aspects of animals in China. (Breakfast, Lunch)

Saturday, March 26. DAILET / GOVERNMENT-SPONSORED SHAR-PEI SHOW
Today make a full day visit to Dailet, the birthplace of the Chinese Shar-Pei. Here we will attend a Shar-Pei Show sponsored by the Dailet Government, after which we may be able to visit some native Shar-Pei Kennels. Later return to Guangzhou. (Breakfast)

 

Sunday, March 27. DRIVE TO HONG KONG / HONG KONG ISLAND TOUR / JUMBO FLOATING RESTAURANT / ABERDEEN / REPULSE BAY / STANLEY MARKET / VICTORIA PEAK
This morning drive to Hong Kong, the thriving city of 7 million which has long been China's window to the rest of the world. At Hong Kong transfer to our 4-star hotel, the Regal Kowloon Hotel, or similar, in the heart of the Hong Kong's Tsimshatsui East shopping district. This afternoon tour Hong Kong Island, including lunch at the famous Jumbo Floating Restaurant at Aberdeen Harbour, colorful Repulse Bay, Stanley Market and Victoria Peak. (Breakfast, Lunch)

Monday, March 28. LANA'S KENNEL / JOURNEY HOME
This morning visit our Chinese host Lana's Kennel and also have a special lunch arranged by her. Hotel check-out is scheduled for 6pm, after which there will be a group coach transfer to the airport. If you are extended your stay or leaving at a different time there group transfer will not be available, but the hotel arranges inexpensive (about $15 per person) shuttles to the airport throughout the day. Your flight home arrives in the US the same day after gaining back the day that was lost, filled with wonderful memories of a special time in China. (Breakfast, Lunch, In Flight Meals)
